There is a patch around written by Scott Stanton that accomplish this
kind of behaviour. I have tested it patching cvsnt and it works OK.

Asked questions about why this patch wasn't incorporated into cvs main
but got no answers. Seems damn hard to get any enhancement into the
trunk... Anyone else but me using this patch?

The patch can be found by performing a google search on "'r' modules
patch"
