it is not a classical igraph question but so far my enquiries had not been successful. So I hope to get some instructions here.
The literature about the distribution of the degree of complex networks is dominated by Erdos-Renyi-networks (the degree distribution follows a Poisson distribution) and scale free networks (can be modelled by a power law). Of course, there is no need that the distribution of degrees (or strength if the edges are weighted) follows one of these distributions. I guess, this is quite often the case. What about networks, for instance, showing a degree distribution obeying the gamma distribution? Or beta? Or Poisson-gamma models? So far I did not find concepts touching that issue. Could anybody recommend literature concerning that?
