Bernie,

should be simple if you have all the needed tools: autoconf, automake
and libtool at least, maybe more. You need bzr to get the source code.
Then all you need is

bzr branch lp:igraph
cd igraph
./bootstap.sh
./configure
make

Tamas uses a Mac, so it should work smoothly. What kind of errors do you get?
