David,
with the R interface that is possible, see the arrow.mode edge
parameter in ?igraph.plotting. E.g.
g <- graph.ring(10)
E(g)$arrow.mode <- c("-", "->", "<-", "<>", "-")
plot(g, layout=layout.circle)
