> BTW, didn't you try GNU tar 1.15.1 or even S tar [1]? Both. When I googled and saw that some people experienced the same error message with 1.15 I compiled and tried 1.15.1. But the results were the same. star 1.5a55 also failed (but I can't remember the error message). Alexis
