I've saw a previous message on octave-maintainers suggesting that this function could be deprecated: https://octave.1599824.n4.nabble.com/Any-need-for-toascii-td4686354.html My question is: has this function been deprecated?According to the release notes for v4.4 toascii was deprecated for removal in Octave v6https://www.gnu.org/software/octave/NEWS-4.4.html#deprecated-functions-and-properties
I added a note to https://octave.sourceforge.io/docs.php, as with the years both documentations diverge too much and cause confusion.
