It works for me:
pkg load io
matrixx=ones(2000,350);
strCompletaNum = 'C10:MN2009';
xlswrite ('test123.xlsx', matrixx, 'test', strCompletaNum);
ans = 1
Which file type are you using (.xlsx in my example)?
What does "chk_spreadsheet_support" return for you?
