Does the figure window appear correctly, including the menu bar and
toolbar buttons? Can you interact with the menu bar? Can you click the
"Pan" toolbar button and see it toggle? Is the only blank part of the
window the plot canvas area or the whole window? Does anything change if
you hide and unhide the window with other windows? Does anything change
if you minimize and restore the window?

As you can see on following screen capture, the figure window is fully responsive, the menus and buttons are react to the clicks... Only the plot area itself is blank

hiding/minimizing/restoring does not change anything

I've been told on the IRC channel that this could be because of a too old OpenGL version on the (virtual) video adapter driver. The OpenGL version is apparently 2.1
