The build on Ubuntu was in failure. 

I have no time to find reasons why the build was in failure.

My report ends at this moment.

As you said, plot of current octave is slower than that in Octave-3.2.x.

BTW, this topic is not suitable for the octave-help list.
It will be better to move to the octave-maintainers list or 
bug tracker.
