Octave setup on a Cluster Computer

Good Day,

I was hoping you could provide me with some guidance on finding a solution to a problem I have encountered.

I am attempting to set Octave up on a cluster computer (with the help of Openmpi and the MPI toolbox in a Mac environment),

but encounter problems as soon as the number of specified processes exceed that of what my Master is able to accommodate.

Below is the run command I specify in the terminal as well as the error message I receive.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Run Command:

Mpirun --hostfile hostfile –np 14 octave –q –eval “pkg load mpi; helloworld()”

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Error Received:

Mpirun was unable to find the specified executable file, and therefore

did not launch the job. This error was first reported for the process

rank 12; it may have occurred for other processes as well.

NOTE: A common cause for this error is misspelling a mpirun command

line parameter option (remember that mpirun interprets the first

unrecognized command line token as the executable).

Node:   racimos-03.local (note: this is my slave node)

Executable:  /opt/local/bin/octave

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

All installations have been done in the same directories on all the nodes and the applicable paths have been specified in PATH and LD_LIBRARY_PATH.

I thank you in advance for any time and consideration invested towards my problem, I appreciate it greatly.

Kindest Regards,

Iaan Rossouw
