In order to help future users, please just describe which graphics card
you have and which driver you have installed now.

Thanks
        Thomas

I am running Ubuntu 12.04 and the
 fglrxinfo
command shows:

display: :0.0  screen: 0
OpenGL vendor string: Advanced Micro Devices, Inc.
OpenGL renderer string: ATI Radeon 3000 Graphics
OpenGL version string: 3.3.11672 Compatibility Profile Context

I had to go to AMD web page and get the following driver, and do a manual install.

amd-driver-installer-catalyst-13.1-legacy-linux-x86.x86_64.zip
