Hi zhufanye,

Can you be more precise how one can help you. Your function call seems successful, the root at 1 was found with a precision of 0.01. But remember this mailing list is about questions regarding how to use Octave or erroneous behavior, not to help students doing their homework. For the latter one check [1].
