Yes.

No.
It is, however, more than possible that what you *think* you're doing is not
what you're doing. Be aware that checking your thinking against your thinking
and finding your thinking agrees with your thinking is not actually a very good
test.
You may have to read that sentence several times to let it sink in. The fact
that things are not working as you expect is down to one of two possible causes:
1) The software does not work as advertised
2) Your expectations are incorrect
The lesson life teaches us is to be humble and to start with 2. When you have
exhausted the possibility of disproving 2, it is time to start considering 1.
As Ben suggests, post up an m-file or fraction thereof.
