FreeBSD and image-acquisition package

Is someone here using FreeBSD and could try to compile the 
image-acquisition package? 
http://octave.sourceforge.net/image-acquisition/index.html

I just found this 
http://www.freshports.org/math/octave-forge-image-acquisition/ and it's 
marked as broken because of missing linux headers.

Today I tried to install FreeBSD on a VM and then octave from ports but 
as I figured out after hours is that 10GB is not enough space and so I 
gave up...

Perhaps a FreeBSD user finds a quick fix to compile the package in FreeBSD.
