Hi there,

thanks for the insightful answers, right now I can only say that my Octave
version is:
\Octave3.6.4_gcc4.6.2\
Octave was configured for "i686-pc-mingw32".

The java package is: java-1.2.9.

I thought it was tha latest available; should I download a newer version?
Which is it, in the case? Or should I just wait the next official release
(which I understand is going to be released quite soon)?

The java package has been integrated into core octave. There will be a new major release soon, so there's no point in making new releases of the java package alone.

Michael.
