I just tried it and found the following in the debugger,

octave:2> fload_example
Reading symbols for shared libraries . done
writing message '3.14159' to file '/var/tmp/oct-Egnffd'
error: 'fsave' undefined near line 9 column 1
error: called from:
error:   /Users/fpoulin/fload_example.m at line 9, column 1
