gf undefined - ( my error ? )

pkg load communications
octave:2> I = gf([1,0,0,0;0,1,0,0;0,0,1,0;0,0,0,1])
error: `gf' undefined near line 2 column 5

I looked at several examples and I seem to be doing the right thing.

GNU Octave, version 3.6.3
uname -a
Linux appliance.localdomain 3.6.2-4.fc17.i686 #1 SMP Wed Oct 17 03:22:23 UTC
2012 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux

Could there be some other library that I may be down level on  or missing ?
