hi thanks for the reply. i installed the lib octave-dev packages and proceeded to install the integration package. but i got this error: other packages also show this error except symbolic package. i think the reason for that error is that i still have a folder for octave 3.2 packages in /usr/share/octave/packages/ with a text file called octave_packages. the same as before so i tried again but this time as superuser(do you think it is a good idea to install it as super user).but i got a warning: i also get this whenever i load the package. i dont know if that can be ignored.but the package was on the list when i typed "pkg list' command. then i tried to install the symbolic package but this time i got a somewhat different error -- View this message in context: http://octave.1599824.n4.nabble.com/cannot-install-additional-packages-for-octave-3-6-3-tp4649928p4649942.html Sent from the Octave - General mailing list archive at Nabble.com.
