Please bottom-post - this list insists on bottom posting.

Regarding <<<I should have run "yum  install octave"?>>> - I don't know. I.e. I 
don't know which is the most up to date Octave version exists in available to 
you repositories and what repositories are available to you.

Since I build Octave from sources, I'm not "tracking" repositories.


If you specify your Linux distro here other people might suggest where to get a 
newer Octave version.
