Hi,
The problem persist.
Can anybody help me?

GUI was complied in Linux Ubuntu 12.04, everything find. When I run
octave-gui I am trpped in the Welcome screen.

What files will this procedure create? Can I fake them so the splash
doesn't appear?

Did you compile octave first and install it?
