Actually, I don't think it's at all obvious that a call to figure should be 
required for a change in the graphics_toolkit to take effect. Ben Abbot was the 
one who pointed out the requirement to me (with regard to Mac OS X). Should be 
mentioned in the manual, or maybe the wiki.
