error using huffmandict function

Hello,

I'm trying to run a single line here:

octave:1> version
ans = 3.2.4
octave:2> huffmandict([1 2],[0.9 0.1])
error: invalid assignment to cs-list outside multiple assignment.


error: assignment to cell array failed
error: assignment failed, or no method for `<unknown type> = null_matrix'
error: called from:
error:   /usr/share/octave/packages/3.2/communications-1.0.10/huffmandict.m at line 118, column 15


I'm using Ubuntu 11.10 and default octave from apt-get. This runs

uname -a
Linux erico-OptiPlex-GX270 3.0.0-17-generic #30-Ubuntu SMP Thu Mar 8 17:34:21 UTC 2012 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux
