Thanks a lot Philip,
I adapted your advice and now have a much, much faster code.
BTW, I did not complain about the fact that Octave was slower...
I just wanted to make a ML/Octave compatible script with reasonable
performances in both cases.
Now the score is Octave is roughly 7x slower (down from 340x) than ML with
the same code which is very acceptable in my use...
