Thanks for the tip; I'll take a look at those.

Another odd behavior, possibly unrelated, is that I can't close figures with the close command. This one could be related to the fact that the 3.4.3 version I installed was built with Homebrew, and the 2.6.1 was built with fink, and so I believe I've got two different versions of gnuplot on my system. Could that be it, or is there something else I should consider first?

Look at the following functions: page_screen_output,
page_output_immediately, PAGER.
