The output of ocvtave -v of my mac
->octave -v
GNU Octave, version 3.4.2

FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE.
Octave was configured for "x86_64-apple-darwin11.1.0".
For the moment hombrew tends to be really kept up to date.
