Hello, You might want to read the following links to install the dependencies before building octave from source.

build octave with ccache causes segfault when checkinstall Regards, Hong Yu Date: Fri, 9 Sep 2011 10:20:43 +0200 Subject: trouble installing octave (version 3.4.2) on ubuntu linux 11.04 From: address@hidden To: address@hidden Hi, I would like to install the most recent version of octave in linux ubuntu (with the distribution comes an older version). I downloaded the octave-3.4.2.tar.gz file, and I run the following command: ./configure --prefix=/tools/octave/local_3.4.2 from octave-3.4.2 directory. I got the following error: checking qhull/qhull_a.h usability... no checking qhull/qhull_a.h presence... no checking for qhull/qhull_a.h... no configure: WARNING: Qhull library not found -- this will result in loss of functionality of some geometry functions. checking whether pcre.h defines the macros we need... no configure: error: to build Octave, you must have the PCRE library and header files installed Nevertheless the PCRE library is installed. I can see it via synaptic. For sake of completeness I send attached the complete log of configure command. Any suggestion is welcome, Kind Regards Dario _______________________________________________ Help-octave mailing list address@hidden https://mailman.cae.wisc.edu/listinfo/help-octave |
