Thanks a lot!

I checked the TERM variable on the PCs where Octave worked ok, and it was
empty. Where I had the problem, the variable was set to "nutc". Now I
realize this is the case because another program needs that variable.

I deleted/emptied the TERM variable and it works now... I have to check if
the other program still works as well, otherwise I'll just have to use the
other PC.

Anyway, thanks again for the help, much appreciated.
