Does anybody know about precompiled 3.4 octave for Debian/Ubuntu?

I've started working on it today, but I don't expect I will have it
soon. Maybe in a couple of weeks.

Ok, I just tried it in Lucid, be warned it is not as obvious as I thought.

I installed every package which is indicated by as: depends on

http://packages.ubuntu.com/lucid/octave3.2

however configure failed with

checking whether we are using the GNU Fortran 77 compiler... no
checking whether accepts -g... no
checking how to get verbose linking output from ... configure: WARNING: compilation failed

checking for Fortran 77 libraries of ...
checking for dummy main to link with Fortran 77 libraries... none
checking for Fortran 77 name-mangling scheme... configure: error: in `/home/oub/ALLES/ETC/Soft/Soft9/octave-3.4.2':
configure: error: cannot compile a simple Fortran program
See `config.log' for more details

this is really great.

Uwe
