Yes. It covers practical examples (I mentioned elliptic PDEs, Fourier
analysis, and statistical description of data), and also has a
worked-through example of how to create an Octave-Forge package. You
can read about these things elsewhere, of course, and perhaps we
should incorporate some of these things into the manual. The Octave
documentation could use a lot more examples. But while we get around
to that, you can get this book if you prefer a different approach.
