Octave question about functions

Hi,

My delight at trying Octave under Cygwin has been interrupted by the following problem.  A newly written function will do nothing when it's run.  The only thing that happens is that the octave prompt is replaced by simply ">", and the screen seems to have entered some kind of editing mode.  Would you have any suggestions as to what went wrong?
