since it now says that my BLAS libraries are not compatible with the fortran compiler I have (I installed the binaries of gfortran found here http://hpc.sourceforge.net/ , before installing it, it was saying that there was no fortran compiler).
Any clue? If I try to install octave from macports it tries to refetch graphicsmagick so I guess that is not the way to go.

See the README.MacOS. You'll need the gfortran binaries from AT&T. Those from HPC will not function correctly.

I do not know if the graphicsmagick from MacPorts is patched to fix this bug or not. It it is not, then you can manually insert the patch info into a local port file for GraphicsMagick.

I'm not a macports user. If you need help with that someone else may be able to offer instructions, or you may have to ask one of the macports mail lists.
