bus-error on eig test

In using MacPorts 1.92 - MacOS X, 10.6.5, I ran the following after 
installation of OCTAVE:   port -c test octave.  After much compiling, the 
following, attached message appeared.  

My interest is not so much in the eig.cc test, my current use of octave is not 
with eigenvalues, but with this error suggesting a package failure.  It also 
halts the ability to test further, Octave in this installation.  Possibly, 
running the test programs are not viewed, generally, as necessary but it is a 
habit of mine.  Opinions or suggestions  about the practicality and necessity 
of running tests for OCTAVE integrity would be appreciated.
