The digests are generated by Mailman, a program for managing mailing
lists.  It conforms to mail digest standards.  Maybe it could be
possible to do what you want and still be conforming to standards, but
it would be a non-trivial task.  After finding the way to do that,
someone should implement it in Mailman.

Some (most?) mail programs are able to split the digest in separate
mails that you can read individually.

I am not an email expert, but AFAIK this is the state of the art.
