I'm sorry. This came out a bit more harsh than I wanted it to sound,
particularly because we speak different languages on the
free/proprietary - gratis/commercial plane.

Octave has a long and rich history of code sharing and community. If
you want to take code and use it without giving back, some
longstanding members of the Octave community might react unfavourably.
I urge you to reconsider the use case you plan for Octave and consider
releasing free commercial code.
