Usually .exe files are Windows executables, so if you are running Ubuntu
Linux it will probably not run at all.

Well, Wine has made wonderful progress recently, and I have seen quite a few
Windows programs run just fine. This is even true for programs distributed
as .exe Windows installers: the installation just runs and installs them
into the Wine 'pretent' C: drive which is usually contained in ~/.wine

The bottom line is it's worth a try; you may need to install WINE if it's
not already there.
