I typed (all in one line with no spaces)

DYLD_LIBRARY_PATH=/Applications/Octave.app/Contents/Resources/lib/Applications/Octave.app/Contents/Resources/bin/octave-3.0.3

then pressed return and all I got was

$ (just the prompt)

Was I to type something else?

I am not good with scripts.
