Uninstall gnuplot using the "-f" option (forces an uninstall but does  
not remove the ports that depend upon gnuplot).

        sudo port -f uninstall gnuplot

I've not used MacPorts myself. I'm trusting its documentation.

Then reinstall gnuplot.

        sudo port install gnuplot
