Thanks very much Sergei and Matthias-you have pointed me to some info that may turn out to be extremely useful in other ways-though unfortunately probably not in this context. These programs seem to produce actual signal output, and I am not looking for signal generation (my goal is to create acoustic treatments, i.e. actual physical panels), rather a way of generating a much smaller finite number-a MLS that can be mapped (via the Chinese Remainder Theorem) to a grid, in this first case, of 49x30 or 1470 cells. I think this would mean I would need to start with a MLS 1470 bits long... but am not sure of this as I don't know how the Chinese Remainder theorem effects the situation-if it would need a larger number to produce a grid that size, if it could use or might need a smaller number to arrive at a 49x30 grid...

Are either of you at the University of Wisconsin? I notice the Octave list is hosted there. Oddly, though I live and work in NYC, I am from Madison, WI.

Best,
CDB

Hi. I am a sound engineer and need to find someone who
can help w/
some
octave programming of an algebraic (I think-my math
skills are slim to
none) nature. So this is not a question re: help with
octave, more a
question asking whether there is a place where I could
offer a bounty
for working code? I could post details but don't
want to start an
off-topic discussion... unless I have it wrong and
this type of
discussion is OK here?

Thanks much.

Best,
CDB
From your email subject I assume you're looking for
code to produce MLS signals. Take a look at MATAA, which has an MLS signal generator, which in turn was taken from Matlab file central (if I remember correctly). MATAA is here:

www.audioroot.net/mataa

(Just in case: don't expect a quick answer from me in
the next few days. I'll be in holidays and I won't touch my
emails there...)

Matthias

Well, it's actually

http://www.brennwald.org/audioroot/analysis/mataa.html
.

Regards,
  Sergei.
