Can you please post a complete example that we can run so we can try
to duplicate the problem?

I tried to make a short demo to show the problem and couldn't!!! So I dug deeper and found my problem. I had used e as a vector then when I tried to run eval on the string it tried to use the vector instead of 2.718281828459045...
So eval is fine. Me I don't know yet. :-)
