Dear Doug
In the previous mail, the explanation is not suffcient.
Michael's octave itself is relocatable, you can use it if you place it in any
folder.
But the octave-forge packages are not relocatable since the package system uses
the absolute path.
However you can use it the re-asignment of the path
Perhaps your extracted folder was not same as that used by the original
developper.
In that case, the new folder name should be re-asigned by
'pkg prefix' command, 'pkg rebuild' and 'pkg load' command
Please see for the reference the following thread and the succeeding the
threads.
http://www.cae.wisc.edu/pipermail/help-octave/2007-September/005649.html
In paticular,
http://www.cae.wisc.edu/pipermail/help-octave/2007-September/005760.html
Note that the usage of pkg prefix command has changed from ver. 2.9.15.
In my case
>> pkg prefix C:\Programs\qtoctave-0.6.8\Octave\share\octave\packages C:\Progra
ms\qtoctave-0.6.8\Octave\share\octave\packages
ans = C:\Programs\qtoctave-0.6.8\Octave\share\octave\packages
>> pkg rebuild sockets
>> pkg load sockets
