I imagine this is the sort of problem that has occured before, but I cannot find the answer.
I am currently running emacs 22.1 (vanillia installation) and have just installed octave 2.9.15, again vanilla (precompiled version from sourceforge, without cygwin). Only system modification beyond clicking on the downloaded package was to modify the path variable so that
octave.exe would be automatically picked up.
My problem is that when I try to start an inferior octave process, my emacs freezes. I suspect this is because of a prompt problem, because when I run octave from the emacs shell, I do not see a prompt, although PS1 tells me that it is there (and when I run exactly the same octave command in a windows shell, I see the prompt as expected).
Anyone have an idea what the problem might be, and even better, how to fix it?
Thanks in advance,
Sean Matthews
