sorting complex numbers

Hi - 

Is there a way to sort complex numbers by either the real or imaginary 
part and be able to retain the whole complex number?  By default, 
the 'sort' function sorts by magnitude, so conjugate pairs remain 
together.  Using 'sort' to sort by real or imaginary part only returns 
that part.  I am looking for something like in Excel when you sort 
according to the elements in one column.  Should be doable, yes?
