I have found GPL'd .m files for multivariate kernel density estimation at http://www.maths.lth.se/matstat/wafo/documentation/wafodoc/wafo/kdetools/index.htmlThis appears to be very complete, well written, and well documented. There appears to be a lot of other interesting stuff there, too.
