I don't know how to fix the problem. I was just asking the questions that others would need to be able to help you. Please reply to the list so that you can get faster and better answers to your questions and so that people in the future can find the answers.

It was GNU's octave-2.1.73-0-inst.exe, to try to run on Windows 98.

But there seem to be further issues. It won't accept integer vectors larger than 80 components, nor float vectors larger than 32 components. Is it practical to use Octave on Windows at all?

What operating system do you use?

How did you install octave?

Where did you download it from?

Hi folks,

I've just installed Octave 2.1.73, but have trouble with the help
command. Usually it results in the message, "This program has performed
an illegal operation and will be shut down." Sometimes it just hangs
until I hard-restart the PC. What can be done to fix this?

Thanks for any help --
