  Thanks to All

for taking the time to give us feedback. It comes out that

* most respondents use the 2.1.7N or 2.1.5N series (expect nice things
in 2.9.N, such as builtin sparse & integer matrices).

* A good diversity of Win, Linux and MacOs ports are running,
  self-compiled or from binary packaged.

* GCC is nearly the only compiler, but MipsPro works too.

  Cheers, and thx again,

  Etienne

# in order to accurately update the FAQ, I'd like to do the following
# survey:
#
# 1) What operating system do you use octave on?
#
# 2) Was octave compiled on your own machine?
#
# a) If yes, what compiler was used?
#
# In particular, did anyone use anything else than GCC?
#
# b) Else, where does the binary come from?
#
# In particular, anything else than Debian, Suse, RedHat, MacOsX,
# Windows+Cygwin from Sourceforge?

# TIA,
