Debian GNU/Linux (etch). Gedit 2.12.

$ uname -a
Linux dec 2.6.15-1-amd64-k8 #2 Tue Mar 7 06:53:26 UTC 2006 x86_64 GNU/Linux

I'm using a widescreen LCD monitor. Maybe that explains it.
