Subfunctions in Octave

I am trying to use the intersection of the Octave and Matlab languages. I
tried a test today and it seems like the Matlab subfunction capability is
present in Octave. A discussion of Matlab subfunctions can be found at

I have searched the Octave help can not find the specifications for this
in the Octave language. There was some discussion in the mailing list, for

Is the subfunction capability supported by Ocatave and if so, where is it
specified (documented) ?
