There is a way to use the parallel port on the computer to
interface to a single dedicated GPIB terminal.

FWIW, there was an interesting thread on S.E.D about GPIB stuff:

http://groups.google.com/group/sci.electronics.design/browse_frm/thread/962f76d41765604a

Here's one circuit that people claimed:

            |

            | | | +5V

            | |____| | |
            | + | | |

                                                    | Out
                                                    |
                                                    | ___

                                                                (-10V)
