Hi,

This mail is more directed to Mr. Jens Ruecknagel, but it is of interest
perhaps to every octave user.

After trying to compile Mr. Ruecknagel's octave to 2 compiler (using gcc
4.0.2) I got message that some headers are not found. I therefore
used the gcc-3.3 compiler to compile and everything went ok. When I
tried to run it in octave I get

error: /home/brumen/arhiv/octave2c/compiler/compile.oct: undefined
symbol: _ZNSs20_S_empty_rep_storageE
error: `compile' undefined near line 1 column 1

What is the problem? Is Octave (2.1.71 as ubuntu package) compiled with
different compiler and how to make things work?

ANother question about mkoctfile: how to specify in a command line
which compiler to use - i.e. is there a switch to run mkoctfile with
to do this, such as mkoctfile -compiler=gcc-3.3 . i could not find
anything in the documentation. Since mkoctfile is a shell script, it
should be preety easy to implement this things.

thank you, regards,
gorazd
