Matplotlib ?

Hi

Python has this library called matplotlib that matches Matlab graphing
capabilities almost exactly. Two questions :

1. Is it possible to integrate this in future versions of Octave (lack of
complete compatibility with Matlab graphics being the most serious problem
with octave IMO - the hacks in making gnuplot work with octave
notwithstanding) ?
2. Until it happens, how does one call python from octave ?
